Increasingly popular activities on our island this time of year are yoga (indoors, of course!) and fishing~ in search of quiet, contemplative time. I am an advocate of the simpler life, living close to the beach and nature in all its beauty, gives peace to my soul. I have to break away from my computer to take a walk along the sea wall or ride my bike on the boards. I love being out and about, especially this time of year… the crsipness, the perfect blue skies, the changing colors of the marsh grass. It’s the true beauty of indian summer. I however, do not need to search for windows of quiet time at this point in my life. The empty nest is hear… I’ve heard about it, read about it, but I am learning what it’s all about now. It’s a gradual shift in letting go of our children… growing excited for them as you see them learn and discover the ‘real world’ out there, still keeping them sheltered in every way you are still able to…. I am filling many of my empty hours working on my paper. Rob came home last weeknd to do the photo shoot for our next issue “Wonderful Wintertime” and it sure is shaping up to be wonderful! Pictures and stories keep coming in – I have so many stories lined up for next year already! (Just need to sell some ads!) Not only do I love the connection with nature on this beautiful little island handmade by God, I love the connection I am blessed with to the people on it… so many people tell me how blessed they are by The Sun, well I am too!
Look for the “holiday” issue out Nov. 6th!

Note about photos above: one on left I took recently… the one on right Robert took after a summer rain. They were both taken on our favorite stretch of road in between Grassy Sound and Stone Harbor. Rob’s looks like a Thomas Moran painting! Beautiful! He is quite the photographer!
